My 52 received a nos Industrial engine a couple of years ago. Can it be dated from the number? And what’s the spec. Anyone know?

Many parts have date codes. You can looks at the top of the condenser for one.
This one has 034 which is;

on the side of the generator stand. distributor side. there should be 3 #'s in circles . month/ day/ and year. the #'s in the technical section does not show industrial numbers. I don't think ?

Just to remember that is simply the casting date of the case. It could be before or after the date the engine was actually produced. |

Pretty hard to produce an engine before the case is cast

Yes, production for sure, but for example a case for a 25hp engine was cast in 1956. In this example (a true one at that) the casting date was much later than the production of the 25hp engine. |

The distributor badge looks like it says BR 25. That distributor was produced from late 1959 through the 1960 model year. the badge design eliminates it as a 1955 ish distributor. _________________ Roads Scholar &

The BR25 was later renamed by Bosch to 010, a very good distributor when running Twin carb setup. _________________ I got a historic car, every scratch got a history...

Sorry for lifting an old thread, but didn't the engine number get interpreted wrong?
A (0)9000 serial (after the 122 industrial coding) might have been july 1955 but this is a 5 digit (0)90000 serial, 122-099501 = more likely a 1961 36hp industrial engine (and fits better with the fuel pump, br25 and other parts on it.
Here's another one for you (just bougt it but haven't got it jet).

Thats interesting. I did check the date circles on the stand, first one being 25 which equates to 1955 I thought? |

First date circle should be Day. So 25 XX ZY is the 25th of XX (month) and Y (year), Z being shift. Post a photo. However the engine number 090000 is way to high to be a 55, my 021000 above should be a June/Juli 1956 |

The ones I have are stamped from the bottom up. On this they are facing the other way/ the numbering is mirrored (turned 180 degrees), but I think you should reed it as 25 6 01 as in 25th of june 1961 or possible 25th of June 1st shift 1960.

Whats the left case half date code? Does the case have a oil drain plug (not the one in oil strain cover)?

60s 36hp have no oil drain plug in the case but have the casting for it
A -55 should have the oil drain plug in the case
