Guys ,I just realised that the sandrail I bought not too long ago does not have any rear trailing arms .
It only has two plates connected to the torsion caps , coil overs and the swing axles .
It seems to have been like that for years but I am worried that with the weight and beefy tires something could broke in case of an emergency braking or hitting a pothole or so .
Is there a economic way to get this fixed ?

Your car has a swing axle transmission, there are no trailing arms. The only suspension members are the spring plates (one pivot point.) and the axle tubes (The second pivot point.). This would have been a 1968 or earlier donor car. There are plenty of off-road VW based cars still using this rear suspension design. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Look at my avatar. That is my swing axle buggy winning an offroad racing championship decades ago. There is still a class in offroad desert racing for buggies that the rules REQUIRE swing axle rear end. Is it strong enough? That sort of rear suspension won every race and championship in offroad racing for many years. Yeah...it'll do. _________________ Richard
