|
|
Hello everyone, I am in the process of restoring a 71 camper and debating if I repair the left cargo floor and front floor board.
I already cut and placed the right side cargo floor and you can see from the picture the edge of the left cargo floor was very weak because of the rust. Because of this about 2 feet of the floor edge is rusted through.
Also they are other areas that will need patching.
Otherwise the floor is very solid, allot of surface rust to clean.
Don't like the thought of patching a bunch of areas and cleaning all that rust.
The front floor is pretty shot on the driver's area but much solid on the passenger side.
This will not be concourse restoration, I am going over everything and it will be a nice weekend driver and will show it from time to time.
Would the money saved on parts justify repairing the old panels and the possibility of having the rust return down the road.
Thank you for the advice!

I'd buy a sheet of 20? gauge steel to make patches.
Pinholes/pans/chassis can be coated with www.masterseriesct.com silver & black and rubber mat/carpet etc.
You can do more later if you're not happy with your first repair. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I never replace anything that isnt necessary, made that mistake long ago.. That said, id do patch repair and try to cut out only the stuff that truly needs it.. Lots of just use Ospho rust treatment and good ole rustoleum oil based paint.. or a good tractor of farm implement paint are also good rust preventors on the cheap.. Lots of misconceptions about "encapsulating" rust, and some have caused rust to spread more underneath _________________ BUS WANTED: 13 window BUS any year considered.. |
