Is there an easier way to replace the gas sender unit? The only thing I am finding is to cut a hole behind the rear seat until you reach the sender cap.
Would love to NOT cut a hole. I am assuming pulling the tank but thought I would ask the brains first!
Thanks! |

I cut the hole in my '77 when I was first getting it ready to hit the road, even though the sender was working well. A year or two later when the sender went out away from home I was glad the hole was there, what could have been nasty job to do on the road became an easy one. My home made cover fits pretty well and my slightly squarish and somewhat larger hole makes it easy to turn the lock ring and remove the sender. Since the hole can't be seen with the carpet in place it is really a none issue having it there. I sealed the lid to the deck with high temperature silicone to slow the progress of any potential engine fire into the cab.

Same here. I cut a hole to replace my sender this year and need to pull it again. The float has sunk just a hair and my needle is slightly off - not a huge deal but it bugs me. Thankfully it's pretty easy to pull now. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI
