Hey guys,
what would you think would be the best way to ship a bug engine across the States, say from Tennesee to Mc Allen Texas? Would you might have a cost estimate?
Hope to hear from you soon!
Cheers
F.

I picked up a solid pallet. I then bought 3/4" plywood, 2x4's and built a sturdy box that attached to the pallet. I strapped the engine to the pallet with straps. I shipped it across the country with no issues. I can't recall the cost but feel like it was around $300.

Did the same thing....just make sure the straps are good quality and in good condition, pulled tightly and solidly so they do not slide/loosen or break free. Should not be an issue if so.

I had a engine shipped and it almost arrived intact

If it's just a long block without anything I would block the heads up. the guy that sent me an engine just used the exhaust studs and strap steel to keep the engine from tipping. this worked about as well as a shit flavored cough drop.

if it's fully dressed the heater boxes will keep it from rocking. just make sure to strap it down good

I've shipped various VW engines in the back of trucker's diesel pickups or in/on their trailers.
List the load on www.uShip.com for bids.
