I'm putting together one motor out of two, so the flywheel going not he crank is a different one than I pulled off. Is there an easy way to balance the flywheel? Is it necessary? This is for a daily driver.

Unless the flywheel was balanced as a assembly (you will see a match mark by a dowel pin or crank on the flywheel) it will be fine as they are balanced alone at the factory. |

Note the lightening marks on the FW and the pressure plate. Almost always those parts are balanced to a good enough amount, but not perfectly. So both of those parts could be still heavy on the drilled lightened side or the opposite side away from the drilled holes. Best to install the lightening mark on the PP about 90 degrees out from the lightening marks on the FW. That way you are much less likely to have the heavy side of both parts aligned, that would cause more engine vibration and thusly more noise getting into the interior to tire out the driver. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
