I have a 73 Thing that did not run when purchased. I finally got it running the other day but purchased a Empi air filter only. I have only driven it a few feet and noticed oil now in my air filter and a little running down my carb and intake. Should I also purchase a oil bather? Will this solve my issue or are there other devil's at work here?

Sounds like a different issue. Can you post pictures of your setup and the leak?

Do you have an crankcase breather road draft tube or the breather tube connected to the air filter, or both setup?

If you have your oil breather connected to the air filter, which you probably do, then you may be getting excessive blow by through your breathing system. Its not unusual to see some oil in the bottom of a conventional filter over time, but if you are seeing a bit right away, you have other issues as mentioned.

Post a photo of your engine compartment. Is it a stock engine?
