I have just received my birth certificate and at the top it has model year 1955. Is this just saying they made this model til 1955?

As lower down it states it was built January 1954!

Is this correct with everyone else’s ?

Thanks, sam

Splits built late in the year are often described as the following years ‘model year’. Model years and calendar years are not always the same, there’s overlap.

That said, yours seems to be a January 54 so that doesn’t apply.
Those VW birth certificates are notoriously erroneous though.

This seems like an error to me.
It should be 1954.

I'm confused what
Delivered in: Columbia
means vs.
Country of Destination: USA

I think Carib Motor Co. was in Colombia (correct spelling of S. American country)

Maybe another mistake?

Yes, I agree. Full of errors.

Bus is Colombian (not 'Columbian'). So it has been mis-spelt. And USA incorrectly stated.

And VW seem to have overwritten the early Barndoor M-codes with later Split Bus M-codes - which they appear to have forgotten - so M-code meanings on Barndoor Certificates are totally unreliable.

Yes, M10 and M92 are definitely for later Buses.

M009 is speculated to mean a yellow lens for the center brake light

I don't know if that was used in Colombia

This is the second attempt already. Do you think any of this will effect when applying for a v5?

Thanks, sam
