I really liked this box and the rest of this build. Someday I'll get a LiFePo battery in that space. _________________ - Jim

Ok here's a question regarding that space. I have a 2wd '87 wolfsburg aka weekender.
I would really like a built in water tank . I've looked at under frame versions of water tanks and the camper model ones in the cabinets . The cabinet one just won't work and the under the frame ones might, But tell if I am wrong, the synchros use that space for the fuel tank? Has anyone ever tried a water tank in that space? Its a weird shaped space I admit. |
I have the same van as you. When I was doing my engine conversion, I was planning on a tank in that very space. Plan was a screw-out clean-out/fill port in the van, just behind rear seat.
Water feed was going to be to sprayer out the back of the van.
I would up switching from a DIY ABA to a professionally installed 1.8T and I figure with engine & trans in place, I missed my window of opportunity. O _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"

280 ah and start battery.
Power to studs in engine bay.
Held down by rivnuts.
1/4" plywood top.
Wood framed. Foam packing material to fill.
Marine insulation below. Super quiet compared to stock.
Heat mat for winter.
Red Arc in the wardrobe.
Good use of the space. Puts weight over the transaxle.
Been working on the Sea Cow for months. Have barely driven because of trans issues.
All is resolved.. Pumped to hit the road.
