I posted about this previously in the M-code envy thread, but I wanted to start something specific to M-Code 753.
TheSamba M-Codes list states "seen on UV(Boston)-delivered '62 single cab." My April '62 UF(San Francisco)-delivered double cab has the same code, and damnit if I can't life without knowing...Even the Birth Certificate from the Stiftung AutoMuseum states 753 as being "unknown."
Anyone have the same M-Code, or have any idea to what M-753 refers? If so, what year/model has it listed? I'm interested in shedding some light into one of many "unknown" codes. Thanks. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

The most accurate reference that I have found for M-codes is the original sales receipt from a bus. Those are long gone from over 99.9% of buses. There also had to be information in the dealerships, as they could order buses with these codes. Volkswagen is notoriously incorrect on many birth certificates because they would re-use M-codes and they would use the same number for different things on models, and slightly different things for the same model over different years. In this case, and many other high number M-codes, they just don't have anything on them. Parts lists show what M-code a specific part is for if it isn't used on other models.
Good luck in your search. There are a few of us trying to figure out every M-code we can. _________________ .

Thanks, Lind, and I realized the potential futility of finding this out a long time ago. Still, I wanted to at least put it out there for the masses. Worst-case scenario: it ends up being another wasted space in the Forums; but, best-case: we expand the utility of TheSamba that much more...
I've never found anything too "unusual" on my DC that would point me in any one or another direction in figuring out what 753 meant. Nearly 60 years on, it has gone through several owners until I got it in the mid-90s. We'll see what time will tell. Thanks again, Lind, and take it easy. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

I have no idea but I will add your truck to "Seen on" list on the site
Since it's 2 trucks, it could be something Truck or Commercial Bus related but that would still be a total guess |
Thanks, Everett. Heads up, you put "4/62 Single Cab" and not "4/62 Double Cab." This code is found on my Double Cab...my single cab is not that interesting hahaha. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

Thanks, I fixed it.
I got sloppy and copied the line before it. _________________ How to Post Photos
