Hi
So trawling through my KGs old history that the previous owner gave to me and I noticed the body type model in at least two documents is SD1431. In an earlier document the body type is listed as SD1131.Been searching the internet cant find any info on this at all. Anyone have any ideas?
He did say he had a few VWs when he was in Cal so I wonder if he has given me a certificate from another vehicle.
Cheers

Well....... I don't have answers but I do have some Basic Knowledge.
The Karmann Ghia produced in Germany is a type 14. This came in four options, coupe and convertible in both left hand and right hand drive.
These would be 141, 142, 143, 144
141 and 143 are Left hand drive
142 and 144 are Right hand drive.
Now, the Karmann
Ghia was also built in Brazil. This was a Type 13 Ghia. (Edit: wrong info, type 14 would be correct, see following posts)
These were only LHD and never exported by VW.
I would hazard a guess that the two models are 131 and 133 but that's a complete guess.
They also made another Karmann Ghia in Germany known as the type 34.
Brazil also made the Karmann Ghia TC, again a very different vehicle.
I would guess that your number differences are the result of a bad typist entering data.

Dave,
Do you have any references which show the Brasil KG being listed as a Typ 13? I thought they were still called Typ 14s. I did wonder what the TC was listed as.
131 and 133 would be quite confusing as I think those were also used for '72 on Super Beetles.
