Cleaning up some interior panels that I got a few months ago.
It took me a minute to figure out that my front doors and rear hatch use a press-in style clip, and the cargo interior panels use a screw style. WW descriptions threw me off.

Finally. 7 months later.
I’ll post a few updates this weekend, but here’s a few seconds of my first drive after 7 months of slowly tinkering, having things done when I can... and a lot of patience.
Welcome to mi barrio

- Got the cargo door panels in. I need to heat up the center bulkhead panel to form it back curved then those will go in.
- Went on a drive and MELTED a fuse! I’ll dig into this soon. It happened a few minutes after turning on headlights...
- Gear oil was leaking from reduction box, fixed.
- Now other side is leaking...will look into soon.
- Here’s a few parts I got recently.
- Time to start working on the parcel tray.

What wattage of headlight bulbs are you using??

Do not use the headlights till you get this sorted out!

Watts = Volts x Amps

So 12 volt or 6 volt is not the concern.

If 60 Watt bulbs = 12 volt x 5 Amps

or 60 Watt = 6 volt x 10 Amps

Original VW headlight bulbs were 40 Watt low beam & 45 Watt high beam.

Later FLAPS replacements where 50/55 Watt.

When we went to H-4s those started out at 55/60 Watt.

Edited: 1 headlamp is GE #6012 (50/40 watt??), the other is a GE 2D1 headlamp (65/35??).

Those should not be enough to cause a big problem.

Double check the headlight wiring, especially at the headlight sockets. Seen where someone switched two wires and had all four headlight filaments working all the time.

Required procedures links below to get out the voltage drops.

A few tidbits today.
- Lesson learned. Make sure you line up the front window felt with the metal slotted bracket to make sure slots line up Shocked I had to trim a bit more.
- Pretty sure this is too many wires going to the melty fuse terminal Very Happy
- Rear hatch panel is in.
- I bought this carpet from Home Depot for $18. Fits pretty good. I'm going to buy another for under the seat.

Decided to replace speedometer cable while I wait to do rear axle leak and tackle melting fuse issue...
- Speedometer cable end was shredded.
- New cable seems to work pretty good and gauge looks accurate!

Bus took a turn over the past 2 months.
Local students are using the bottom half of the bus as an art canvas!
Check out their artwork....more to come!

Awesome paint job! The kids must be having a blast! Many years ago I used to volunteer at this summer camp thing for kids. I drove my 67 bus with the bottom half in red primer a lot back then, so I'd let the kids decorate it with chalk. They had so much fun!

I'll post mechanical and cosmetic updates next week, but for this week it's all about the local student artists who painted my bus.
They sold their paintings, hand painted magnets, flower pots, tie dye shirts, and displayed the bus at the Farmer's Market! So proud!
