A little update. I've been driving the bus almost daily...enjoying life!
500 mile service and brakes adjusted recently.
- Layed front carpet, magic blue box, and trying to wire up the turn signal switch.
- Installed front door panels, handles, seat belts, and rubber mats under front seat.
- Spray canned bumpers. Didn't do any metal work this time..maybe one day.
- Dropped an extra lens that I had.
- I bought a bunch of interior panels (walkthru), but I think I'm going to stick with my grey and salt n peppa panels.
- Replaced the big commercial style mirrors with elephant ear mirror.
- I went to DMV to finish my vehicle inspection to finalize paperwork. DMV asked me where the emissions sticker was and had to call the Manager when I pointed to the engine bay for the vin numbers... fiasco, but got done.
Next: Install bumpers, finish wiring, install kick panels, install BlazeCut...

volkswagen60, looking good, do you need an emissions sticker in CA?

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Reduction boxes started leaking, and I might have a little brake fluid leaking, and I’m hearing a little clink in front brake so maybe a broken spring.
Ordered a few items so have on hand. I have some stuff but didn’t want to be left needing a $5 part.
Going to get into it with mechanic next week...progress photos coming soon...

Looks like what I have been dealing with.
I finally solved it by replacing the spacer between the outer bearing and the drum. I tried a few used ones, all didn't look bad, but none worked. Then I bought a new one and now it's fine. |
This?
211501303 WHEEL BEARING SPACER, rear, requires 1 per side, 1964-1967 Bus, made by Wolfsburg West, each

Quick update. Mounted the front bumper, and mounted a cool Super Van emblem. I tried to mount the rear bumper but it keeps hitting the muffler. Apparently, I have a bug muffler!! So, looking for a bus muffler now.

Today we attempted to solve rear leak for the THIRD time and we replaced the wheel bearing spacer as you suggested. I went on a 15-20 minute cruise, and NO LEAK! I think it's fixed. I'll go out again later and make sure. Thanks for suggestion! _________________ http://www.vw-trader.com |

I'm going to agree with peecee69 and say mid 80's kidnapping van you were told to stay away from as a kid. It's a pretty big and heavy emblem. I was going to mount on rear hatch where VOLKSWAGEN goes, but it didn't look quite right. I love it inside! _________________ http://www.vw-trader.com |

Decided I want to clearcoat the art painting, which somehow lead to removing the front window frames. I bought the seal for under the frames a few months ago but then I put the door panels in so I didn’t feel like removing them...until today. 2 of the small posts/nuts along bottom of window frame snapped.
So, plan is to clearcoat the art, sand and paint the frames, install new seals, vents need locks, then probably rattle can the white top of bus white ...
