Near 0 F when I got up so drove the van to the end of my street where I had a clear view..not a cloud in the sky..

Watched on my 6" Nextstar through the windshield so not the best view but too dang cold to take the scope outside.

Espar saved the day...again Cool

Anybody else catch this? from their van? Cool stuff..

I just got back from watching it. Got out on a hillside in Fairfax, CA (40 minutes north of SF) starting around 8 AM. Mercury was just past the halfway transit point. Really cool. Didn't take the syncro, but we did take the syncro to the eclipse in OR 2 years ago. Cool

Saw the eclipse from Casper, Wy. Biggest outdoor party I had seen in a LONG time..

Pretty cool to see so many enjoying the natural world and science.

I really thought this thread was about a comparison with some obscure minivan.

This Mercury? Don't think they want you snooping around there.

I guess a resident can be referred to as a Mercury villager. I doubt Mercury can afFord transit.

Sadly, it was overcast here - for the first time in ages...

Spent a few hours over the last week prepping for this. Tracking weather first..odds looked good..what next.

Scouting location..making sure windshield is spotless..telescope in van the night before with garage heat on.

Total nerd fest Very Happy all to watch a small black dot move slowly across the face of the sun..

My wife and I decided to hold a viewing in our small town. Took the van and our telescope and offered up some free coffee to folks. Had a nice turn out and clear skies!

^^^ Sweet! Cloudy here today, but the van was a great home base for viewing Venus a few years back! Cool
