Does anyone have any leads on a Dove Blue match in a spray can? I'm about to start reassembling some things and would like a spray can option for a couple items that either didn't get painted or have been misplaced between here and the paint shop. The items I may need to paint aren't super important, but I'd like it to be as close as possible. _________________ '73 Westy (dual stock carbs, SVDA w/ compufire)

I have auto paint supply shop in my area and they have the dove blue color code on file. They also can put it into rattle cans. The only thing is you have to buy a quart of paint. _________________ Wanted Victoria motors licence plate frame.

Which by no means guarantees the new dove blue will match what your paint shop did. Colours vary widely wuth the same code |

So I kept reading these "go to the auto paint store" comments. I decided to go to one in my area. I did my research, read the threads, came up with the PPG code etc etc. The guy behind the counter said the PPG code was no help. He asked if I had any other code. I said yes, "L53". I thought for sure there was no way a modern paint shop could do anything with an original VW code. I the guy took a minute and showed me the screen and asked if it was an ugly red. Sure enough, its Sealing Wax Red. $25 per can. You do need a clearcoat though. Theirs is a two stage paint. Semi gloss is good for my old faded paint. _________________ Greg

My local shop wants $60 to match the paint, $45 more for a 12 oz spray can. I’ve bought a coupla cans from online suppliers, and they don’t match at all, despite crazy $. _________________ Looking for SP Kadron manifolds...please !!

Try LKQ. Its the big box store of junkyards. They sell used and aftermarket parts. Mine in Portland has the paint shop to make it easy to buy a used or new bumper etc and respray it. They have locations in Redding and Sacramento. _________________ Greg

Not a spray can, but porcelain. This looks close to dove blue to me, but then again I’m visually impaired.
