I'll be taking my tranny out soon and I'll measure. Im not sure if Barndoor is different. I'm a rookie here. _________________ I'd rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

Compare a regular splitty to a barndoor and you’ll see what I mean. Bummed to find two different sizes
Thanks Donny ! |

Is it me or a typo? I read 21 5/16" in your photo not 21 5/8".

Could someone summarize the lengths, and VIN transition points of the torsion bars?
Is the Red torsion bar from late barndoor era the same as later split bus?
Are the color codes a way of postitively identifying the bars?
As someone with a late '55 Barndoor and an early '56 Wolfsburg bus, this is of more than a passing interest.

For the lowered barndoor crowd who can't fit barndoor specific torsions, I have adjustable spring plates that have a snout to work with later torsion bars. |

I heard or read somewhere that the spring plates are barndoor specific but couldn’t find any difference in spline numbers. Later plates fit right on. |
