Anyone know who sells a decent oil screen with the original fine mesh for a 1600 engine?
My local vendor sells oil strainers, but the screen material is nowhere near as fine as the originals. I’m looking to replace my dented OEM strainer with one that has the same, fine, mesh.

Don't know if these look more like the original, but they say VW Genuine Reproduction Quality.

Try if possible to straighten out the bend one if possible. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Tim, kind of surprised you don't have one of those spin on oil filter adapters? _________________ Regards,

That doesn't replace the screen.
Oil filter is on the output of the pump and the screen protectes in input side. _________________ Glenn

gets some flat perhaps 3/16 inch tall magnets, I found some that are about 1 inch by 3/4 inch of that thickness, I place four of them on the sump plate, they fit under the strainer. I have found these magnets do pick up iron dust pretty well. Fine iron dust from the cylinders. lifters, rockers, valves, etc.. will cause wear if allowed to circulate, with only a screen as a filter, they wont be stopped, but magnets do remove them from circulation.
