Today was the last race of the season in Formula 1, so to pay my respects, after the race I went out to the "track" and gave it the beans!

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It was still climbing, too (103 mph is my unofficial record) when I let off.

Not bad for 1645 cc's with a stock cam and stock heads!

At the bottom left you can just barely make out the EGT gauge. Wow, 1550 degrees F!

So let's see some top-end pics. How fast will yours go?

P.S. Um, just don't do it in the street. And if you do, don't get caught (or killed)!

My bad! I guess I've been watching too many of those damn youtube videos with misleading titles.

Nice one!

I had a 1500 cc single-port once that would only get up to about 85mph, and then, one day the humidity or something must have been just perfect, and it topped out at 92mph- and that's when the coil burned up and I had to have it towed home.

Nor should you. It's a damn foolish thing to do and you'd have to be an idiot to even consider it!

But it does make for some good bragging rights.

Just kidding. Use a GoPro, that way you never even have to take your hands off the wheel.

Ever eat a hotdog at a gas station? I wouldn’t eat the sushi, but if I’m driving a dependable car well just maybe take a quick pic. You’d be fun on the Gum Ball Rally 😀 BTW your wife took the picture. Very Happy

Don't have a top end... too dangerous to hold a camera at that speed.

72mph @ 3000rpm... do the math of how fast i'd go at 5000rpm.

If you can't... here's a chart.

Hmm... I had a picture of my 944 SPEEDOMETER (not swimsuit Wink) somewhere but I don't see it just now... pretty close to topped out.

Yes it is a but hard to do what with the road not being the smoothest.

For a second there, I thought you'd typed that wrong, and then I saw your chart and said, "Ah, he's got a 3.875 R&P and an 0.82 overdrive gear. That's how he's only turning 3 grand at 72 mph." Nice job on the five-speed, by the way.

You know the problem with Bugs that go faster than 100mph? The speedo won't show it!

I must not have saved it on my phone, not that impressive really. Stock 4 cylinder car all around so about 225 km/hr. Could do it again easy enough but I might wait for a bit until the snow and ice clear off the road.

With style!

If the rest of the car looks as nice as that dash, I'd say you've got something to be proud of.

Does that speedo really go up to 120 mph? I guess ze Germans were nothing if not ambitious!

Mine does the same thing on days when it"s retarded cold. "Squealing turkey" is an apt description.

You think 225 Km/h is not impressive? I get tickled silly whenever I get mine over 150 K!
