I may have fried my aftermarket injection, so wondering if I can slap a pair of Weber IDF carbs on the 2.1L in my 412 fastback, or if there isn't enough room?
I searched - and I'll try to take a manifold and carb home tonight to visualize it on the engine but wondering if anyone knows for sure. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

I don't know about a kit for the Type IV but the Type IIIs usually used dual ICTs or dual two barrel DCNFs. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

OK, I didn't ask about ICTs or DCNFs. I appreciate your input but unless you can answer the question asked, please be quiet. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

There is not enough room for the IDAs or IDFs in the Type IV bay, unless you ran it without the engine cover. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Its a fastback, not a wagon. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

The Fastbacks still had the same engine cover as the wagons, so the rear trunk was useable, that's why I said "unless you ran it without the engine cover" not "Unless you ran it without the rear trunk lid." _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

My fault, I was thinking that they would be the same as the TypeIII Squareback vs the TypeIII fastback. Looking at the pics, there's more than enough room for the IDFs in there. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Old post, but maybe there is still an answer needed?!
It will most likely not work with tall american manifolds. However, you can buy real short manifolds in Germany and they should work with a low profile air filter. They also come in 40 / 44 / 48 mm diameter to match the carbs. They are being made since the late 80's . CSP has some listed, but I am not sure if they are the really short ones. I have a set of the short manifolds and can measure them ( if I find them ) if you like. |

Thank you - yes! I haven't mounted my manifolds and throttle bodies yet, but really would like to. Just need to find the time. If they are too tall, I can get or make short ones I guess. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E
