That kind of sounds like that motorcycle Kirk "Chris Pine" rode up on when he joined starfleet.

But "vwuguy" yours sounds a lot more radical with the single carb than it would with dual carbs. As far as mufflers go if you want it to sound the most radical put a stinger on it or maybe a Abarth 4 tip for a mellow sound.

Here's my spare bus engine: W-100 in a 1679cc with a stock Bus exhaust.

Does the stinger with the header adding anymore short term speed gains at all? Right now i have the stock vw dual tip 74 muffler. Do the dual carbs make a big difference?

so far used the gt 2 tip that didn't make any difference from stock..

Did anyone else use an engle cam in there engine?
Is there a prefered engle cam for the 1600 dual port?

Engle W100 is close to stock, W110 is the next step up. The W130 I had was in a bug with almost 11:1 compression. Lotsa fun on the 1/4 mile.

The build. 69mm CW crank, 85.5 P&Cs, lightend flywheel, engle 130 cam, high rev valve springs, stock valves, stock heads that were fly cut 0.1100, dual 34 ICTs, non merged header with stinger cut to about 10" long. '76 stock trans in a '69 bug. 14 second 1/4 mile at 99mph +/-. That was back around 1986. Still have my time slips somewhere.
