Hi people.

Looking for user input re: Vanagon automatic rebuilds done in house (at shop) by local chain store or Vanagon aware shop.

e.g.

- did it work properly from day one?

- warrantied for use with non stock engine?

- over all QC

Thanks

Neil.

My local rebuilder here in NJ does a lot of high end stuff, due in large part to the affluence of the area and the absence of older vehicles worth repairing.

When I was seeking parts for my 86 Automatic he was all about Porsche and Audi being so similar.

Based upon this, I'd seek a local shop in an affluent area that is well versed in similar vehicles as my guy is.

Thanks Dave.

For various reasons, am considering moving to an automatic Vanagon platform.

I used a local VW specialty shop. While it did not work properly from day one, the shop stood by their work and made it right at no additional cost to me.

They’d get my business again. I really appreciate that kind of ethic and would look for a shop with a similar reputation.
