|
|
Hey folks, getting a line bore bar for a Type 4 is proving to be a lot more expensive than I thought, so me and my Harley buddy are going to make one using a hydraulic cylinder shaft and make cutters similar to the ones available for Porta Tool bars. The biggest problem is that I won't have a hydraulic feed, but I found a post from a guy from awhile ago that says he made one without a feed and just slowly pushed it forward while spinning with an electric drill.
Has anyone on here made their own bars?
I will update as progress is made. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

It’s been talked about. Never seen one finished. If your making the rest of it you could use a thread to feed it. Some bars used a thread and simple gear reduction to slow the feed. |

Mikey and I were working on a type 4 bar before he got sick and we were going to just use the porta tool drive.
When he passed all the cutter holders vanished during the shop clean up.
If you make cutters to fit a porta tool I would love a set.
Or if you want to come to oregon and buy all my air cooled shit that works too,lol _________________ 2840 turbo efi type4 with gm injection, really fun |

At this rate I'm probably down to buy all the aircooled stuff. PM me. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

There's a VW guy with Der Luftkühlers in town that does manual machine work. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]
