Sea Sand '67 we cut out of the blackberries for $300.
Cleaned up & ran good until my son rolled it on a curve!
I already had my 'new' diamond blue '69 when he wrecked the '67.

After I got it and immediately slammed it.
Right after paint. Mercedes green and Mack truck white. I installed what I need to be able to drive it home. I have no other pics of it.

'64 Sedan originally red.
Then white because the red faded so fast in South Florida.
Purchased from National Rental Car in '65 for $1,000.
There was a field of 30 to choose from.
Rolled it in '68.
Rebuilt motor 3 times over a period of years Oversized jugs and full flow oil system with remote cooler.
Rolled it again in '70' Replaced the whole body in '70.
Got body for free from guy building dune buggy.
Painted it orange with rust-o-leum and a brush. (college budget)
This picture taken in 1970.
Worked part time for an EMPI dealer installing exhaust systems after classes.
Autocrossed the car until 1973.
Converted it to a pickup in 1974.
In the '70s we had 14 VWs in the extended family. I stayed busy keeping them all running.
Consignedthe '64 to a landfill in 1978. Totally used up.
Kept the front end and trany to build mid-engine autocross special.
Somewhere over 250,000 miles.

My first VW was also my first car, a '66 13-window bus. Here I am as a proud 17 year old behind the wheel.
My dad and I built and painted it in our driveway. It had a 8-track, a CB radio, and a transplanted Westie interior. Wheels were
Superior Thing wheels on front, and Appliance on rear. My CB handle was (drumnroll please), Blue Baron. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

My '72 Super that I was gifted after high school and took to my first duty station. Started off as a completely stock autostick car, the engine was rebuilt to 1679 then later I did a manual 4sp swap and installed a single Weber 40IDF. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

First VW back in 1981. Poor thing. I killed it but wasn't hurt thank goodness.
I harvested all the usable parts off it and put it on my 2nd beetle. A 1971. My HS car that I had a blast in. I sold it to a co-worker around 1987. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I learned to drive in a '62 but I didn't own it -- it was my dad's.
The first VW I owned was this '50, which I bought in late 1965:
With new paint, bumpers, and some other parts, photographed in 1967:
