next I started cleaning the trans . my buddy (po) test drove the car in ft. Lauderdale . I asked how it shifted and drove ? he said perfect. so I figure with the new parts I posted earlier in the project. (clutch ,flywheel t.o. bearing ) it was good to go.

Nice project, looks like fun
Hard to see in pics but it looks like the shift detent soft plugs are missing from your trans. Originaly made of plastic they often crumble and fall out causing an annoying oil leak. Difficult to do with trans installed, so for sure do them now.
The replacements are made from aluminum...
There is also a smaller one you need to remove the stud to install...

61SNRF thank you for that !!!! it would of been a bummer to get the bug back together and have a leaking trans. I ordered the plugs from the link you provided . thanks again |

wanted to finish up the bulkhead . the process I decided was (1) por 15. (2) seam sealer.(3) por 15 top coat to seal everything.
masked off area to be sealed . wanted to minimize mess .

im leaning toward cutting off the jacking points , horns , or whatever there called .
because ,,,, for one I see the pan is separating and will need welding.
and im not sure if the in dent on my heater channels are actually dent ? or are those meant for added strength ? or is it starting to collapse from jacking it up ?
I know from older bugs I owned ,the part directly above jacking point would crush. from being rusted . but.. I never trusted those jacking horns ? lol I will never jack my bug up with those . didn't know if would de value the car ??? so please lmk your opinion , appreciate it |

The heater channel was damaged by the jack point. This generally means that the channel is soft & it would be a good idea to inspect it thoroughly. I welded a piece of angle iron to the top of the jack point on my car to spread the load over a longer span.
