I'm looking for suggestions or ideas for our '67 Euro beetle. It is a fully restored and rewired stock beetle with the original 6 Volt system. Also, a radio delete car.
We need to add an audio system into it.

I'm considering adding a 12 volt motorcycle battery into the car to power the system. But how to charge it? Is it possible to charge it off the 6 volt generator system??
Or
Just keep it connected to a battery tender when parked in the garage?
THOUGHTS?????

Thanks people!!!

In the late 1960s and 1970s, folks routinely installed 12 volt stereos in their 6-volt VWs by using a power converter https://www.google.com/search?ei=oCn6XfHxDI3u-gT0t...amp;uact=5

Nice car – deserving of one of Wayne Johnson’s 6V amplifiers. I put mine in back in 2009 and it's never missed a beat (see what I did there…?). No messing about with 12v batteries or converters, it just works. I think he has improved on the design since and they’re now all bluetoothified so you can stream off your mobile device of choice.

Thanks. If you can direct me to this Wayne Johnson you speak of i'd greatly appreciate it, lol.
I did a member search and only found one Wayne Johnson but he has no posts or ad's so I don't think that's him?

if this doesn't pan out I'll have to go the converter route.

Thanks Guys!!

I just put one of the digiten thingies in my 64. Powers the lighter and the horn, no problem. Produces 10amps of current so I imagine it would work fine for most radios
