Hi,

I have a propex HS2000. I just had it serviced by propex in England. With no other changes done it’s just not throwing the heat like it used to. In near 0f temps it keeps the van at 50f. That’s with window insulators, top down and minor insulation on the roof. What temp can you go down to outside and keep 70 in the van? What could my problem be?

Thanks
Gregor

6ooo btus do have a comfort vs temperature (wind+temp) limit..
I opted for the HS2800 @ 9ooo btus..

close your door vents or if a later model cover your rear window vents..
and shut down the front dash fresh air inlet.

but to want to reach 70* I'd say nothing below 32* for a 6ooo btu heater.

At 3f I'd also hang a large towel behind the front seats to block of the front cab area. Lots of glass there to get the inside cold.

I have never had my HS2000 below 30f so cannot offer any comparison.

^ I installed snaps in this area and put snaps on a harbor freight moving blanket. Reflectix 'floating' between curtain and glass for the rest of the windows - except slider door.

At 32 degrees outside with a 5k CDH heater - I got the van to 92 degrees!!

This was just for fun. I don't sleep at that temperature.

I have to leave my poptop down with my propex or space heater. heat goes through the tent like a cheese cloth.
There are insulators for the tent but they're a pain in the ass to apply for a one nighter.

Is your LPG tank full? The propane doesn't boil off into gas that you can burn very well at colder temperatures. Also the regulator can freeze up and not supply enough pressure or maybe volume. Have you tried lighting a burner on the stove when the Propex is going? Does it seem to have a normal flame. Our Propex always kept us warm at those temps with the top down of course. You said you had it serviced, was there any issue with it before the service, and do you know what they did during the service? Welcome back to cold Canada!

Sorry, didn't mean to go off topic - was trying to emphasize Dave's recommendation of blocking off front of the cab.

Insulation can help.
