get yourself one of those chinese heaters and route the exhaust back into your engine bay. Turn it on the night before and let it purr. You'll have a nice warm block each morning.

Get one of the new models that also have a water heater function, and run your Van's heater circuit through that.

Or get one of the Hydronic heaters that are intended to heat coolant from the get-go.

On the headlight question:

I bet the innards of your headlight switch are toasted. Perhaps a replacement switch and some relays are in order? (Maybe you can just install relays and get lucky. I'd actually try that first--the switch may still pass enough current to trip the relays.)

You talking about the EGR coolers?


You could recirculate your warm coolant using this through your heater box under the bench. Maybe there’s a thread on this but I’m getting excited about the possibilities. Warm water with copper tubing, warm coolant with a simple low draw pump, warm air. Cold weather blues gone!!!

No, though that is certainly a possibility.

I'm talking about the newest version of the cheap Chinese diesel heater that also includes a built in water heater function.
