Hi all

The nipple on the vacuum module on my JX injection pump broke off. Whats my best way of fixing this? (Im thinking of J-B Weld, but not sure if itll hold.

Thanks again

I would not trust JB Weld for that fix, not without reinforcement. Not familiar with the engine but have learned what JBW can't do.

I broke the nipple end off a fuel pump plastic piece and used tiny brass tubing as a sleeve JBWed on the inside, then wrapped the outside with fine mesh and slathered JBW on it. When dry I installed fuel line with a clamp but that piece is now my emergency spare that I hope will work properly if needed.

I agree with campism.

That kinda looks soldered.
Is that possible?
Maybe it's silversolder?
I have a hard time believing an OEM would solder, but...

Cut new threads for a brake bleeder or other nipple?

I'd wonder how to keep metal shavings out from inside of that part though.

I agree. Looks like it might've been silver brazed.

Neil.

Thread a brake nipple in, then JB-weld a big structural fillet all around the brake nipple?
Could put it right at center, then cover the original nipple hole with JBweld .

If that's a diaphagm, it probably wont be bothered by little bits from drilling & threading, and most might shake out..
Drilling thru the membrane would be detrimental. Shocked

JB weld can be done like this.
Epoxy a steel tube on, with a structural blob for "strain relief".
Maybe steel brake tubing (or copper tube)?

Recommend brazing if you can find someone willing to work on something that small.
Epoxies are not going to cut it.

New one. Pricey.

My only suggestion is to keep in mind that the hose doesn't have to go to that exact spot. You could patch that hole and drill a cleaner hole elsewhere. That area shouldn't see more than 15psi.

Title is not very catchy to a diesel vanagon enthusiast Rolling Eyes .

Is the diaphragm intact?

Hi all,

Thanks for the ideas... I'll thread it for a brake bleeder nipple and see how that works.

Ill keep you appraised!

Steve

NIPPLE FIXED!! Laughing

Thanks everyone

I ended up threading a brake bleeder nipple on, and sealing it with JB-Weld. It seems to be holding a vacuum when I pull it open by hand.
Im not sure of the longevity of the repair, but well see.

Thanks again,
Steve Laughing
