I have often wondered how many of us are still out there. This is not to "one up" anyone. Just interested in knowing if anyone besides myself drives a bus. only one rule exists: You must have a split window bus as your only mode of transportation. _________________ Please do not use the word "restored" when describing your vehicle that has been lowered with a 1776 engine! Yes. My 1960 SO23 camper is our only car here in Warsaw. I drive it to go shopping, to the movies, to see friends, to work etc. and of course to go camping. It is the newest car that we own, but living in the city we often walk places, so while it is my daily driver, I don't drive it everyday, if that makes sense.

Anyone else? I certainly doubt it! Guys and gals. Drive that bus. I know for a fact that we are all going to die. Sell that Honda! Drive your bus! You can do it. Gas pedal on the right. One thing is being a daily driver as just means of transportation, meaning just to get you from here to there and such. Some of us have had to use it also as a work vehicle too, being loaded up with work related tool and hardware, unloading all that crap for weekend outings and the like to then reload it all again for the work week!
I’ve done that myself and have often been asked “why?” Being that making good money I could afford a newer vehicle! It’s my choice! While I currently have the camper, I also have a bug and a single cab. ALL of them can be used daily and I do so. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

I have been daily driving buses since '92. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

In my neck of the woods my insurance would be price prohibitive to use my bus as a daily driver. However I have a 'daily driver" new-ish car and insure my bus using vintage insurance which costs me $10 a month as compared to about $150 a month. |

Daily driving is a huge point of pride. I have gotten back into it lately. When I was 16 and got my Karmann Ghia I daily drove VWs for the next decade or more. Got my first bus at 20 and then rotated between the two until I added more VWs to the fleet. I always found you needed more than one if you relied on them to get you to work just in case. My 67 so42 is my daily currently. 30+ miles to work and then back home again. The heat of summer makes it difficult sometimes. I almost have to take a change of clothes to work with me! I plan to make a good effort to stick with it this summer though. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled
