2017 Golf R "The Silent Mary"

Hey all.. just wanted to log back on and share my latest endeavor in the world of VWs! This beautiful MK7 Golf R was purchased in late-September 2018 as a successor to my '69 Squareback, The Flying Dutchman.. so naturally, it became The Silent Mary.

Limestone grey was the way to go, no question. It came equipped with a DSG gearbox, DAP, DCC, ACC, and other light modifications from the original owner.. all of which made for a superb driving experience. The Haldex 4motion AWD system was a major factor in choosing this car as well, and it certainly did not disappoint. Fender audio sounds fantastic (coming from an audiophile), the interior feels as professional as ever, and you could NOT find something more discreet and capable when making a quick getaway. Solid commuter, A++ sleeper.
While it is a pretty massive leap forward technologically from 1969, there is still something primitive, even grassroots about the total package. It retains the thrill and involvement of every generation before it, and more.. it's the reason why these cars are so good. And let's just say, you can run out of road pretty quick..
