Hey all,
My name's Lee and I am currently travelling around North America in my 1976 VW with my girlfriend Willow and our adopted kitten Aimee.
We quit our jobs as teachers, rented our house out in Birmingham and shipped our VW bus named Ruby over to America.
We had spent 3 years restoring the VW, my girlfriend doing most of the work at Bournville College, on the site of the old Longbridge car factory. She taught mechanics and even let the students help with the restoration.
We have been living in Ruby full time since the start of September, covering over 12,000 miles already.
We've had to deal with lots of incidents along the way, the worst was when our windscreen exploded on the Interstate. But fortunately, we were rescued by a guy originally from Telford!
You can see pictures and videos of our trip by searching the Kombi Chronicles on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
We are so greatful to our VW family, who have been so supportive of us during our time here.

I know the guy who rescued you and the guys you met in coastal Mississippi and New Orleans. They are an awesome group of people. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

How commonplace are left-hand drive vehicles in the UK?
Welcome to America!
I'm deployed overseas right now or I'd tell you all to come to Florida! _________________ (o\_!_/o) |

Left hand drive vehicles aren't common, but there are a few about.
Hopefully if we get back to Florida in the future we could hang out.
Had a great time when we were there last time. |

I'm out of the country right now. Living the Korean COVID dream . . .
I will be living in Maryland starting in August.
