I have had my engine all rebuilt, and while re-assembling all the extras thought I had better get the inside of my oil cooler cleaned because I noticed some very black oil seep out. (My car had sat for an unknown period before I bought it.)
Took it down to a friend with an ultrasonic bath, and black goo started pouring out ! It took several separate efforts, and still black stuff came out. So we then filled it up with thinners and shook it about - and more black stuff came out. We did that several times before it cleaned up, and we were able to blow it all out of there.
Glad I checked it before putting it all together !

I usually put it in a small parts wash with new cleaner and attached the pump hose from the brush to the inlet side and just let the fluid / cleaner run thru until no dirt comes out anymore. |
