Hi,
This is the washer tank that was in my car before the restoration. It has no hose as you can see. Helphos
Is this the hose I need for it?
Thanks

Are you trying to make it completely original or are you trying to get a washer system that works? |

I'd like to get it as original as possible if the cost is not outrageous.
What would you suggest in order to just get it working?

Hidden electric pump, and a micro switch to run the pump. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That's what I have in my bus.
If I wanted to go original, is the hose pictured above the way to go?

I don't know. You'd have to ask a 1500 club member like Jason. My 65 had a similar set up, but I just added an electric pump and micro switch, as I wanted it to actually work, and leave me with a fully aired up spare tire. But then, my car wasn't rebuilt to be stock, it was rebuilt to be a driver, and I've been to PA and western Missouri in it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Problems with the stock system include: leaks at hose ends; leaks at switch dripping water on electrics; leaks in cowl leading to rust, flat spare when you need it... |

The ‘65 system does not connect to the spare tire. You pressurize the tank directly using the Schraeder valve visible in the photo.
If you are going to keep the system original, do replace all the pressure hose between the tank and switch. There is a special 2.5mm hose for this purpose that is available by the meter from VW specialist shops. I know bughaus carries it.
Regular vacuum hose from the FLAPS will not hold the pressure and will burst/leak.
I have been using the original system leak free for a few years now after installing the correct hose. The tank can take up to 35 psi but I usually keep it in the 25-30 range out of concern for old plastic.
It lasts a long long time before having to repressurize. _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

I think that hose set up is for Squarebacks of that vintage, since they run a higher air pressure thn a Notch did. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
