Number of deaths in the US from COVID-19 have quadrupled in the past week. We have not hit the apex yet. No one can yet predict how severe any person's reaction to the virus might be. Clearly, the best course of action right now is to avoid it at all costs.

BTW. The United States can now claim 1/4 of all confirmed cases in the entire world. And we are not yet testing at the rate of many other countries.

Dr. Fauci (from the NIH) just said on CBS not 2 minutes ago that "we do not yet have this under control." He also said we do not yet have the capability to do the amount of testing we need to do to get control of the virus.

Stay safe everyone.

My state one of 8 that is giving a big middle finger to Fauci...

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/04/politics/republican...index.html

Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas continued to defy calls for a statewide order and dismissed Fauci's comments.
"It's understandable that (Fauci) looks at that as a solution, a nationwide shutdown order. What's important is that has not been given," Hutchinson said Friday at a news conference. "The CDC -- I watch their guidelines regularly -- and they have not indicated that's an appropriate or necessary step across the country."

He actually showed a chart in his press conference demonstrating that we are "below the projected curve" in terms of cases and deaths, so it's all good. Rolling Eyes

This is where you guys have us beaten.

Funny statement from Governor Cuomo...” we have to have our private and public hospitals share equipment and manpower like a single system, this has never been done before....’

Uh, actually it has...in every other country in the world.

True. And having insurance tied to an employer, so stupid. No wonder other countries don't do it this way.

Wait until you turn 64: you'll get inundated with mailings from companies that want to handle your Medicare insurance and take a cut; there's so much money in the system in the U.S. that they all want a cut.

Other countries don't have direct-to-consumer advertising of pharmaceuticals either. Just listen to the potential side effects of any of these, they all have side effects.

Part D - precriptions - has bigger copays than my prior insurance. if someone tells you "Medicare for everyone" slap him with a fish.

So, what exactly should the media be reporting about this pandemic? "Everything is fine, go about your lives. It will go away on it's own" didn't really seem to help. Wink

In addition to Jennepher's informative link I also like to spend time reading thee articles and really really looking at the words.

Some things I noticed:

1. Right at the top Commentary. Or as we all know..one person's opinion

2. "The data that we do have, meanwhile, COULD end up being terminally skewed, particularly the data that’s been coming out of China"...Yes....that's a real important qualifier there.

3. "For instance, what happens when an elderly person with numerous underlying conditions comes into the hospital and dies?

What happens when someone suffering from late-stage cancer or liver failure dies in the hospital? If that person was in the final stages of life and no testing is done and no autopsy conducted, what are we to assume?

If no testing is done and a patient’s symptoms are close enough to the seasonal flu, will that person’s death automatically be attributed to COVID-19? And how much of a difference would that make in the numbers, if any?"

Why ask this question when it was answered in the very commentary?

Specifically: "COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death. Certifiers should include as much detail as possible based on their knowledge of the case, medical records, laboratory testing, etc.,” the guidance continued."

so which category would these fall into, criticism and negative, or uplifting and supportive?
-cowards who attack other people
-thugs
-tired, recycled Marxism
-parroting the trite talking points
-crude manners, obnoxious personality and endless grandstanding
-fearmongering narrative

Are you one of those folks that thinks ignoring a problem will make it magically go away? In case you hadn't noticed, months of ignoring the virus only made it worse. It seems that a little harsh reality has finally started to make people take this thing seriously. Too bad that in typical American fashion, so many people ignored the warnings until the body count started to get uncomfortable.

For the past several days I have seen many stories about good deeds and good news. Like neighbors buying groceries for other neighbors. Kids collecting money to buy face masks. People raising money for out of work neighbors. Medical personnel being cheered at shift change. Free meals for medical people. People singing together from their balconies. Information on where to go to get tested and who should do so. Companies donating PPE to hospitals. Etc, etc, etc.

How much more support and help do you need? At least the idiots are finally beginning to take this seriously.

By the way, there is an article in the New York Times about why talking about our problems makes us feel better. Check it out.

Obviously there are many who cannot follow instructions. Given that it is better to err on the cautious side, I am afraid to wonder if it is going to be necessary to impose " more enforceable" regulations on the public.....just to be able to reduce the most moronic behavior of course. So I will always be able to get groceries, but do we eventually face tighter scrutiny in the future so the block/pool/spring break etc. gatherings stop, or nothing?
Hey now, everybody else by now must have 59 rolls, still no TP on shelf?
