How are you guys keeping the steering box topped up? PITA to fill it accurately where it is...
I've got a spare box that I picked up when I thought mine was toast - turned out to be the steering coupler, not the box. The spare I picked up had a pronounced click right around centre. My presumption is that this is a result of slack adjustment punching a groove into the steering gear...correct, toast?
Pretty thin on the ground for options for us RHD guys these days...definitely babying my good one along. _________________ http://thickrubber.blogspot.com/ Writing, Surfing, and Exploring NZ's deep south by VW...

Hello everyone ,
I am working on the repair and also on the remanufacturing of the wear parts of the bay t2a steering box.
I put the link to the you tube channel so that you can see the various advances in my work.
currently the video is stopped because I am in consultation mode for the reproduction of the finger, ball cages, conical rollers, circlips and other
the worm is also on the workbench;
I only block on the hardness measurement of the worm and finger.
if anyone has this value in their possession i'm very grateful

your link fails. Almost any high end machine shop for the aerospace or tool industry will have a Rockwell hardness tester. They can test an area of the worm out where it doesn't get wear and give you a number. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
