M1CH 70 243 (This all I can read in my pan) anyone have an idea?

Thank for your help

That is not an original chassis number stamp. Can you provide some history of this car/chassis? Was it wrecked? Is it salvage? How long have you had it? Where was it last registered?

That is not a vw stamp, but a restamp, possible by the DMV at some point. All it is gonna be is an id number for your title/registration, it wont tell you much about the car. In your picture you can a good portion of the factory VIN (larger stamped numbers with the bolt in the middle), you can probably use those to id the year of the pan from them

Maybe M1CH is MICH and the MI DMV may be able to search for you. As I said in a PM, do not spend a dime until you establish it's not stolen!

Polish where the factory vin is... mirror finish. Then use a acid etch to raise the numbers. Used to do it all the time with old guns.
