… this low-light was at a local salvage for years - one day, I went to get some parts and the old LL, was gone - someone actually bought it...
… then, about a year later, I was at a show in Arkansas and that great-lookin' LL was there - I heard, a body shop owner, bought it>

Hey, it's out there, making memories, & being enjoyed. Much better than an over-restored, full-scale model that sits in a climate controlled environment because the owner has too much $, time, or labor in it & is therefore afraid to drive it.
Just like my beast, I'd make sure that it was safe & drive the livin hell out of it. (But I'll be damned if I ever drive a car that low ever again.) _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Yep but yours isn't a danger to the driver or other road users. As I said when it first appeared 5 years ago...there is no way that Ghia would be allowed on the road where I live. Yours would, there's no comparison. _________________ John.

The MOT in the UK is tough. Watch any of the cars shows that are in the UK. They live in fear of passing the MOT.
Here in VA you can register anything as an Antique (25 years or older). There is no inspection for antique vehicles.
Some states such as Florida have no inspections at all - antique or otherwise.
Supposedly states without inspections have vehicle fatality rates that are about the same as the states with inspections. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

Ah hell, park it in your living room, & use the big screen as a simulator or pretend that you're at a drive-in with the little lady. I'll continue making vids so you can come along for the drive. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

I would have not imagined this possibility. I'm just not very creative.

I am sure I have seen that Ghia at a few shows in Texas, It runs and drives around the show ground but I am pretty sure he tows it away at the end of the day
Unless I'm mistaking it with a different Ghia. Quite a few like that in Texas. |

… the king wrote... "I would have not imagined this possibility. I'm just not very creative."
… don't be too tough on yourself, King-mann - creativity takes many forms - we are all a product of human-creativity and just look at all our differences - might be best, to be open (and accepting) of most all possibilities...
The next guy wrote "… and lotza' Ghias, like that in Texas..". Sweet!
… I used to trailer this Messerschmitt to shows too - lotza' crazies on the road, ya' know?
Be safe, my brothers...

Further proof of that old saying "The cobbler's children have no shoes."!
I will say that I do like the look of the pillarless hardtop treatment, though. |

You barbarian you. One simply does not crush KG no matter the state.
It is a "piece of art" and a good way to keep KG parts makers in bussines a bit longer. (my motives being purely selfish).
This will buff out and this "piece of art" just needs a bit of TLC
BTW to anyone in "it's patina" crowd, no it is not patina, it is rust. _________________ 1958 Karman Ghia i.e. my rustbucket project
