I'm not sure if many of you know this, but it's something I just discovered.
I got my 1967 Ghia late last year, and of course it didn't come with door lock keys.
Not to worry, remove the door handle from inside the door panel, take a look on the inner cylinder of the push button, and there is your key code.
Give the code to your person of choice who is able to cut keys, in my case, KGPR, and now you have keys.

As you can see (maybe) my code is 22K043.
This is for the push button style door handles, I'm not sure if the other styles are similarly coded.

Holy smokes! That's super easy to make happen. Thank you for the tip!

I wonder if there's a code on the hood pull?

Yes, indeed there is a code on the hood pull. I recall it is stamped on the flat section where the grub screw is. you might have to remove the pull to see it.

The stamped key code is also on the ignition switch, provided it hasn't been re-keyed from original.

I just had a set of keys made for your car, so now all I have to do is wait for my opportunity.

Of course, if a different lock cylinder or tumblers were fitted at some point in the car's life, the marked code (or possibly even profile code) would not be applicable... Confused

Another good tip is to take a really hi-def pics of your keys. If I were to ever lose all the sets (eeps) it wouldn't take much to get a blank and re-cut something.

You can always take your door handles and ignition switch to most any key shop and have keys made for them. They'll also match the locks so both the doors and ignition will operate with the same key. You can also match your locks to whatever keys you have on your own. I think there was a thread on here a while back explaining how to do it.

Provided the key profiles are the same, of course.
I think the letter calls out the keyway.
I could be wrong and often am.

As I asked in another thread, is it possible to change the lock barrels to match my ignition key on my 71? I have two different sets of handles, both with one cleaner looking than the other, so I wanted to use the best matched pair with the matching ignition key. After getting some advice, I switched over the barrel from the ugly handle to the clean one. If I hadn't taken the time to go over the four pieces and clean them thoroughly, it would have only taken about 5 minutes to switch over. Not sure if this pertains to your specific situation, but wanted to throw it out there in case others need to change door lock barrels for a late model.

Jeff
