Looking forward to the pictures Bill! Fitting a vintage radio really adds up to the look of a splitbus dash _________________ My 1958 PGSG project topic |

Hi guys,
Im getting to the fun parts of the build now so managed to get a lot done on the splitty in April,
Here are some photo updates,
Upholstery time, the middle seat is definately that hardest to stratch the trim over!
Drivers seat before
After!
I teach my dog how to pull a drum off and fix stuck brake shoes
I installed fat mat sound proofing then wooden clip flooring,
The final pop out window was assembled after the previous owner stripped all of the screw threads!!
I managed to find a vintage head unit that suits the 60's style, so fit that,
The functioning head unit will be remotely controlled and is hidden from view.
I stripped the engine while i did the panel and paint (started panel work in September 2019), the standard beetle AS1600tp it all looked pretty healthy so i replaced the generator with an 90amp alternator, new punp and modern electronic svda dizzy and twin Kadrons from the Kaddie shack.
Cleaning that engine bay preparing for panel and paint reminded me of working in underground mining again with how loud, dusty, and dark it was haha,
I smashed the steering wheel when i pressed it off so gave it a shot repairing it with epoxy before i bought a new one, and really glad i did, Very happy with how it come out!
The wheels are off getting sandblasted so home stretch!! |

Last night/this morning I installed a new gauge panel (no holes required, mounts to the factory holes for the headlamp and flashers) Came with the cig lighter with matching ivory knob too. Awesome new product from Womack.
I've had these gauges laying on a shelf for years so it's cool to put them in. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

My 67 Bus is at my parent's place in NC, my dad is working on it as his quarantine project. I have a Westfalia table to put back in it come interior time.
Inspired by that table, I decided to build a similar one for my 95 Toyota Previa. It's completely built using stuff I had laying around, so I didn't have to venture to Lowes during the pandemic! I was hoping to attach the leg to the bottom with a hinge, but the height and length didn't cooperate. Close enough! It'll come back out to clean up some of the rough edges, but it works great so far.
I got the idea after seeing a different post in this forum about them eating their takeout dinner in their bus outside a restaurant. It sounded like a great way to get out of the house for a bit. Hope everyone is keeping busy and staying safe! _________________ 1973 Superbeetle: 1st car, owned since age 12. Update thread --> https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9919140#9919140

Replaced the fuel lines today. I do it yearly. I noticed the master cylinder is leaking so I'm going to a duel master this coming weekend.

I move the box with BADD disc brakes from the house to the workshop next to the bus (that arrived last Sept). Stared at it wondering if I should finish it or sell it. Opened the doors to inspect the interior to ensure no mice made their way into it (YET). _________________ Anthony

It's been sitting in my garage for so many years. I bought it for $400 in 96. I finally got going on this project.
1) Trying to get the broken headlight fastener out. No luck.
2) Cut plastic to replace the original window louvers.
3) installed table.
4)The spice rack was in pieces. Reassembled and tried to save it
5) working on the wiring. The fuse block is really tricky |
