Question on painting rims

I am working on removing rust on wheels that have the tire removed. When I paint the wheel, do I avoid paint on the area where the tire seals against the rim? Rims and tires are tubeless.

You can paint the wheels where the tyres contact the rims, you have to be careful to spray on sparingly at the contact area and that the paint has fully hardened, to avoid the tyre digging in and pushing the paint, or sticking to a soft paint and pulling it away on the next tyre change also make sure the tyre fitter uses adequate tyre paste and to go easy on the new paint.
