Off work, so I'm making a stop at the PO. A woman pulls in next to me. She proceeds to tell me she worked on these buses in the early 60's at a VW dealership in Berkeley.
She was one of the mechanics there that would pull the engines, split the block, line bore...etc...terms I don't usually here from an elderly woman. She told me stories for near 1/2 hour !! Wanted to give her a big huggie !
I'm smiling as I'm typing this .... — feeling loved.

And it would match her brake shoes.

That is pretty cool !! I'd ask her if she had any dealership memorabilla.
About 5 years ago I was at the local cheap beer & cigys store and this older lady was checking out my '66 Truck, she asked to sit in it, I had to help her in by pulling on her arm from the pass. side She was so jacked up after sitting in it, as her hubby just rolled his eyes... _________________ Tom

It's the moments like this that make all of the annoying comments worth it.
Last summer when I was in my Bus at a state park a woman came up to me and told me about her dad running a VW dealership in the 50's when she was a kid. She would go with him to pick them up in New Orleans when they first started getting them in. She said her dad was glad when they took the bar out of the middle of the rear windows on the Bugs because he could see out of the back better so that was early 50's _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

Sure would be great to get audio files of folks like this. Too many behind the VW dealer stories being lost. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

That would be awesome! gitchesum, maybe you can go back and ask to record her as she tells you dealer stories. Eric&Barb are 1000% correct about losing this kind of stuff.
Side note: My coworker sat down with his Grandfather a WWII Vet and recorded many stories he had to tell that he had not shared since he got out. _________________ Anthony
