OH NO!
That was the one "subtle nod" I had hoped would be left in.
Ah well. I'm still a fan! _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I thought about leaving them but... it is a Frankenbus so you just do whatever or wherever the “vision” takes you. 😆
Starting to work on the rockers: |

Long side rocker is next with the added bonus of a little Yuma dirt. The B pillar on the driver’s side is a little munched (notice the gap) so I picked up some new metal from WW today along with some more goodies. 🤨

Some long side progress. Now if you see the nose there, photo bombing the picture, we had to take the entire front clip off to properly install the B pillars. Good thing it was just tacked. Also some frame rail pictures. Warren and Bob fabbed this up.

Moving along as the b pillars are both in, final welding on the rockers and Warren is making a cradle/jig to line up the transaxle horns to the front of the bus for the mating of the front third once again.

B pillars are looking good and the rear is now on the jig/rotisserie.

The front third is back! As you can see the front doors are off in these pictures. I ended up bartering a little with Blackdog1999 (aka Cory) for a set of nice 55-60 front doors for the OG cargo doors, the rusted 61-64 front doors and some $ on my end. Next up should be the Gerson nose and lining up new the doors and then finish welding up the top.

First door in place. Gaps are looking good so far. Still needs a little tweaking.

Getting ready to weld the roof. Gap looks great considering what we started with. Using silicone bronze wire to keep the heat to a minimum.

Here is a shot of the passenger side frame rail plate. Trying to make it as strong as possible. Also tilted the body a little on the rotisserie to weld up the roof.

I'm picking up the bus tonight to start the next phase and I was going through my computer and found these Yuma pictures from Mike's yard that I forgot I had to post. Flash back to January 2016:

The Franken Bus is in my garage in one piece for the first time. I installed the Wide 5 spring plates and the 68 bug transaxle from Wright Gearbox last night to get it on the wheel dollies. I had these original Speedmaster wheels from my old Thing project that fit nicely. Good to have it close to tinker on.
