ditto what EV said. I have older HP's and I never had that problem at all. And yes, added and replaced drives...

as for the apple stuff - yeah 6-8 years ago I agree apple stuff was great. the mac books (and TBH everything in my opinion) took a real nose dive in build quality.

I was an iphone guy forever. I was into jailbreaking, and doing all kinds of stuff with it. it took a lot for me to go to android. I don't know if I could go back... the whole thing where they stop releasing updates for your device, and then apps quit working on your device, etc always bugged me. and I have no doubt they are just as bad as google about your info. I think it's pretty foolish to think they arent... Id like to be wrong on that so if you have any data to support that I'd like to read it.

what Ray described is tempting! but I can probably be fine with a pixel or similar

I'm looking forward to seeing some images with comparisons new SE old SE and 11. I forgot to mention why I'm stuck with an iPhone, I bought the Apple Watch because of the EEG system, which I'm glad I did. The watch allows sending EEG pdf's in a second so I'll stick with it. It doesn't make any sense to buy an Android as they do not connect to Apple Watch.

I would like to get/build (I'm an Arduino tinker) an adapter for low light photography for projects and attach to this 5s until there is an affordable Crying or Very sad lowlight iPhone offered. Or maybe I'll just buy a 4 yr old Pixel for the low light photos and treat it like a camera as I don't take tons of low light photos.

I just posted this image in my thread in the Split Bus forums, and now I see the cheap 5s camera is not as bad as projected with the acceptation of low-light inability. I still want an upgrade to low-light capability but not shelling out 1K or more. Perhaps I'll revisit this thread years from now and I'll be complaining about the prices of hologram display iphone's at 3K LOL.

Pics taken within a few seconds of each other at 8:40 in the evening. Just auto settings, I let each phone's autofocus do it's thing.
It's definitely better. Can grab my DSLR and try again later.

Might have been a SAS drive, would be uncommon to find in a home desktop but the connectors are different and prices significantly higher (because they're nicer drives).

With IOS 13 Apple is supporting back to the iPhone 6S, that's nearly 5 years old.
With Android whether you get the next update depends on who made it, the manufacturers control the updates and many of them don't care about older devices. Many Android phones will never update past the version they ship with, and there are new Android phones shipping with an old version.
There's a lot of reasons to complain about the iPhone, IOS updates isn't really one of them.

Apple is a hardware company, they exist to sell you devices.
Google at it's heart is an ad company, everything they do is to figure out how to better sell advertising. 's how they can offer so many of their services for free, including Android.
If you're not paying for a service you're the product.

Apple doesn't need your data, so they've turned privacy into a selling point - https://www.apple.com/privacy/
They've been fairly vocal about it, though of course you have to take them at their word.
I'm not saying they're perfect, just that they're clearly better for privacy than a company that specializes in data mining.

Very impressive windfish old SE to new SE, can I assume you saw through your eye the one on the right? Thank you for doing this.

my iphone se died a horrific death this week. every apple product I have ever bought eventually has some hardware failure, but I'm usually happy with how long the last.

I bought the se2020, my partner in crime used to say pictures from the old se 'looked like a potato took them', she likes the new phone's pics much better Smile

I see no reason to buy the flagship apple smartphone if you are going to stick with iphone .

so in summary I'm happy with the se2.

Thank you all for the iPhone discussion here. We have 6S phones and the batteries are failing. That is usually our cue that it might be time to upgrade/get a new one...

Nope. Ifixit and about $35 and that phone is good for another three years

I’m using my 6 as a personal with a new battery

The 11 I win in the contest to have the fewest expense reports rejected for escorts and drugs.

Wasn’t it just a few years ago apple slowed down all the phones to push folks into an upgrade? I had a 6s and noticed it. Then as part of a settlement while admitting no wrongdoing they paid to replace everyone’s failing batteries. They fixed mine. The 6s was great but I got talked into a 10. I like that because it takes better pics.

It was a bit more complicated than that. As batteries age , if you slow the clock you can keep 90% of the functionality while keeping battery good through day

The wankers playing video games and Candy Crush noticed the throttling and whined, then adults who use phones for phone.text.email didn’t notice.

I got a free battery too, since mine would last on ly about 45 minutes with a full charge. I am aware you can get a replacement battery, but it just might be time for a new one..

My old 6s lives on as I gave it to my dad. He’s 93 and and learning the smart phone. The old bugger isn’t afraid of technology like some of the younger kids here Very Happy
January makes 2 years since my last upgrade to iPhone 10 and I might get something better. Honestly the 10 is more than I need but I’m always lured by promise of better pictures. I’m carrying over 4000 in my hip pocket now.

The 11 is ridulous in the sharpness and low light sensitivity, iso 3200 I think?

Zundfolge1432, super cool that your 93yr old dad is learning smart phone with your old iPhone 6s that is so nice to hear. Is this picture with your iPhone 10? Looks great.

I still can't find the iso chart for the SE, but here is one for the 11 wow the 11 is pretty amazing. Yes Abscate very close this shows max iso 3072.

Other helpful charts to help choose:

https://socialcompare.com/en/comparison/apple-iphone-product-line-comparison

This chart I just found is even better as they have examples in a comparison of the new SE and the 11.

Never say never. Many people said digital cinema cameras would never replace film cameras. Now, most movies are shot digitally. Wink

Pixel density on imaging chips keeps increasing, and it would be foolish to believe those tiny little smart phone camera chips won't get better.
