Okay, I gotta' know. What other kinds of beards are there? (I maybe have an idea, but not sure if it's official. Confused )

Thanks man, it's actually an original VW color combo Mignonette green, and the cream color is something the wife picked..
The wheels, I had special made, 16x7 front and 16x8 rear, gonna run a chrome lip ring on them soon as it's on the ground.

One thing I did learn, the Super is exactly 1" wider body than the regular beetle. That is the offset on the adaptor plates you can get. I had these bumpers custom made for my car, 4" wider front and 5.5" wider rear to compensate for the wider fenders. The brackets I used worked perfect, but I had the bumpers made without mounting holes, so I drilled them to fit the brackets.

Thanks buddy, I'm about 85% done, glass is going in next weekend, and finishing up the door cards next week also. I have some signal wiring to do, headlights, and some suspension tuning..Still have to assemble door glass and mechanisms, then install all the weather stripping...this weather has me itching to stay up late nights to finish...but have to pace myself

I'd probably skip the chrome lip rings on the wheels. But that's just me. Very Happy

That vision you have for a late bug is cool. Love it.

Did you buy the early brackets? Or the actual early "conversion" brackets? There is a huge difference. They make a specific bracket, that allows the early style bumper to be converted and mated to the later style mounting location. These are the ones you need.

I put them on my 74 beetle but I made the mounts myself to get them at the right height

Would you be willing to fabricate a set for a fee? I can supply the shock absorbers and conversion brackets? I have a 74 I want to put the over rider bumper on

That's a damn fine looking car. I'd love to see more details about your brackets as well.

Nice work! I think if the bumpers are widened to match the curvature of a late car it looks good.
I agree with Glen tho....

I'm a recovering stock nazi, but I kinda like some of these. I really like the older bumpers and running/taillights on the Type 3s (oh the humanity!)

It's bolt-on, so reversible, so it doesn't much diminish its value later if it isn't to a buyer's taste. I don't like the huge front turn signals on an "olderized" front end (or at the rear, for that matter).

I always wondered why there wasn't a kit for the New Beetle to fit older style taillights and chrome bumpers on them, just for kicks.

Thanks on the wheels! One of the nicest looking 4 lug wheels in my opinion.
