Hello All
I wonder if you could help?
I have recently changed the engine, whilst I was there I thought I would change the sender on the fuel tank, and clean up the tank. The gauge always read 3/4 when nearing empty, and would move to full when filled up. Since I have put it back together I am getting the same results with the new sender. I have tested the ohms on the sender wire and it was reading 92. I thought that this might mean that it is earthing out somewhere between the sender and gauge. However, when I think about it at 92 ohms that would be near to empty which I know the van is at present.
Would people think that this is the gauge?
Any help much appreciated. |

Telling us the model year of your bus will greatly improve the odds of diagnosis. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Thought that after I posted it. It's an early T2 1970.
I just put a gallon in it from a can I had in the garage and the ohms reading went down to 81. I think I am potentially answering my own question here!!! |

If you have one of the Chinesium Senders, who knows.
Is yours a VDO or a generic aftermarket. I went through 2 aftermarket ones in less than 1 year that barely worked before I found a Czech VDO sender 5 years ago that is still working flawlessly. _________________ 1970 Deluxe Sunroof Bay Brilliant Blue/Cloud White

It is an original gauge as far as I can see.
I think that with both senders getting the same reading at the gauge it would point to something other than the sender. The wiring where it goes into the gauge is reading in line (I think), and ohms are reducing with more fuel. So it would suggest it is the gauge. That will be the next change😀.
Anyone who has any thoughts, or knowledge, your views are more than welcome. |

When you turn off the key does the needle fall to below E? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
