So I always had my garage door opener rolling around in my glove box, last night driving home pulling up to my garage, I couldn't find it. So this morning, i was looking at how to mount it somehow. I just used some scrap aluminum sheet, and cut it out with some shears. Used the dremel to round the edges and texture the bracket. I also used some electrical tape on the back to protect the paint and help hold the opener in a bit more.
Just wanted to share this with everyone.

I like this, good job. Plus you didn't have to drill into the love box door.
I have my opener in my trunk. I wired a momentary button switch wires to the internal connections of the opener, drilled a hole under the dash, and mounted the momentary switch there, out of sight. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Nice job. I had a similar issue with my remote floating around in the car. I stuck a piece of Velcro (hook side) to the back of mine... it clings to my carpet quite well. I usually keep it stuck on the tunnel by the hand brake, when I drive my other car I just move it over to that one. |

I hide the other remote, with strong velcro, in my truck.

Does your glovebox door lock? Do you park in the garage or in a driveway?
Most folks don't think about how easy it is to "break" into a house by reaching into a car parked in the driveway, or pry/pop a lock or window quickly to gain access. |

Door locks for car yes. But based on that theory my Truck and Wife's van would also be susceptible to that. |

Agreed. Some cars let the built-in Homelink work only when the ignition is on, others anytime (yikes!). Same idea here for the remote. |

I've repeatedly "tried" to explain just this to Mrs. Cusser.

'They use to just drive down the road and press the remote 'they' already have and see which doors open. Also 'they' use to drive down the road with a cordless phone and listen for a dial tone then make long distance calls. Technology pretty much eliminated the latter. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia
