I noticed a broken lug on the case of my rebuilt transmission. I believe some 2WD trans cases had lug or boss for a locker but I don't imagine it would be in this location. It's not important, but I'm curious what it's for. Thanks.

- What was this for?
- Did all cases have this?

Thanks.

I believe it was part of the holding fixture for the drivetrain install on the assembly line.

Bam! You are correct...from old_man's rebuild thread...the other three tabs are fine should they ever be needed...

Probably used in the machining process for clamping and alignment during manufacture. You can find similar lugs on the autos
