Nicely done car.

I don't normally like custom interiors, but that one does look good.
But the chrome tins are not my thing. And the trans gearing is not doing the engine any favors, IMO. I don't know why people are so scared of rpms. Engines are made to spin, and they have an easier time doing the work they need to do when they're spinning faster.

Will it be difficult to register with non matching vin#’s?
Body & pan are different years.
Big deal or not?

Depends on the state. Here in NC, you need a title for the VIN on the chassis/pan. If he only has a title for the VIN on the body, I wouldn't be able to register it here.
But I know for example in SC they don't care which VIN you're titling. They actually don't care about much in SC Laughing Laughing Laughing

In CA they wouldn’t accept a title that is to the body tag, it has to be the pan VIN. But, there are a lot of clueless private VIN inspectors who will simply have you read off the number on the body tag without inspecting the pan. If you take it to the DMV or CHP and request a VIN inspection you would be screwed.

I’m surprised, I thought it would break $40 easily. It’s grey, big engine, convertible, nicely built, no big issues other than some paint failure, so why the low price? Only thing I can think of is the ugly ‘90s Honda Accord grey plastic interior? Visually the car is boring compared to the 69 coupe with the red interior. What do the rest of you think?

For me, it was that interior. As you noted, it has the feel of a boring commuter vehicle. Clean but very, very sterile with no "cool" factor. If I'm spending that much, I want the interior to put a smile on my face.

I would agree that the interior in that car wasn't a good choice.

It sold for as much as the convertible which was a similar build and even though it was on a earlier pan. I guess the color combination made the difference?

The orange convertible is a nice driver level car as long as you are willing to accept the terrible nose repair.

I think this one did well. Interior was value added IMO.
The new owner should consider installing the missing engine tin though.

The grey convertible was decent but just didn't pop.

I'm anxious to see what the no reserve sale price will be on the orange 72.
The rear pans look crushed. Front bumper bracket seals missing along with a couple of other seals MIA.
The trunk & inner nose photo's will be interesting to see.
Overall it looks fairly decent.

Long time reader here, thanks a million to all of you for my ongoing Ghia education!
As someone who's been on the lookout for my dream Ghia for some time now I will echo the sentiment regarding the interior. Very clean look but "sterile" was exactly my thought.
Also, my aesthetic tends to the older bumpers so I'll just add that to the list of maybe why this one didn't crack 40k.
But man what a pretty car!

It just sold on BaT. The market spoke. Why would the dealer put it back on BaT when he was just the high bidder?
