Seat Release Cable - did they make for 1973?

I am restoring my 1973 Standard Beetle. Part of the process is the seats.

Prior to reupholstering, I thought I might as well replace the seat release cable that allows the seat to go forward to allow someone to sit in the rear.

But what I am finding on all the parts sites, is everything is being sold from 1976 and up.

My cable is not broken, nor does it look really that worn, but thought I would replace anyway.

Do you know any places that sell for my 73?

After checking many vendors; making calls, and general inquires, the cable in question is nowhere to be found.

I decided to be safe, I'm going to wrap/intertwine a wire together with the existing one.
