I am looking for some pics for a few things.

1. I would like info showing where the horn mounts. Siince the pedal box is outboard of the frame rail on the steering box side there doesn’t appear to be space for it. Also barn doors don’t have the frame bracket like a 55- up do.

2. The bottom of the nose...there is a few holes where the horn wire / speedo / and harness come through. I know which and where the harness hole is located but could someone point me to which is which on the other two holes?

I know it’s a pain in the but to post pics so any help is very appreciated!

Todd

Me too!
I saw a request for something someone needed and stopped what I was doing measured my part and uploaded all kinds of pics immediately to help. This isn’t even a hard one. Every single RHD bus has this detail unless the nose is completely rotted off. The horn may be not installed but...

It’s all good. I’m not here to request a pity party either....I just would like to some assistance from a fellow enthusiast.

I really appreciate your lead and I’ll reach out to Mark. Thank you!

Here you go horn bracket off bumper bracket Left Hand side
And wiring coming through hole closest to heater tube wiring and speedo cable wiring may not be correct location as it has all been replaced looking at photos now there looks to be a hole for the wiring on the floor in front of where the horn is located so I think I’ll relocate my horn wiring!, horn definitely on left side as both of the RHD Barndoors I’ve had have been on the left

Thank you!

What metal on the bus is original? I see a couple holes outboard of the left frame rail. Those are the details I’m trying to sort out. I think the speedo cable goes in one of them. There is holding tabs on the frame rail for it and with a pedal pan installed the cable has no exit of the area.

Here are a couple more, factory steel. This pic is upside down, speedo cable and horn wiring... the horn wire is closest to the frame rail. The other two wires are after market flashers.

Hope this helps

Here is where I found the horn wire is routed. I didn’t 100% confirm this but I stumbled on it with Beaterbarndoor while posting on another thread about pedal pans...

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/346750.jpg

So I went ahead and followed along.

Neat bracket.
Anyone know when it was used?

The pictures I’ve seen of late model buses - believed original - have a cruder, longer bracket

I have been trying to decipher this change while trying to make the bracket above and from what I have come up with, based on the photos in the "horn" thread and the 53/54 workshop manual image, the complicated bracket seems to me to be 53 only, possibly early 54 only based on that my book is 53/54. Then in 54/55 changed to that simpler version.

Hello everyone,

This is a shot of my RHD NOV '54 Kombi...

Is this area where there should be a horn mount? What's missing, please?

Thank you.

nothing missing. correct BD crossmember welds.
LHD BD horn bracket is bolt on with the bumper brackets. I believe a RHD has the horn on the right side, also considering the steering gear shaft and horn wire are on the opposite side.

RHD has no bracket welded. It’s a separate bracket as above that bolts to the bumper bracket on the LEFT side. The horn wire is extra long. All those details should be easily understood above..
